Wow, I know the assault charges were dropped but he still punched a girl in the face. Unreal really.

There's a video of the incident here. Bethel cold socked the girl right in the face. Really unreal that the kid is only receiving a 3 game suspension.

Looked to me like Battle hit Bethel first.  Doesn't make his punch appropriate, but it can be viewed as self-defense.  Heat of the moment deal.

Bethel was projected to compete for a starting CB role.

I agree both were in the wrong. Still not an image I would want to reinforce.

Both kids acted inappropriately, but I think the punishments are about right. I don't condone hitting the girl, but it was in the heat of the moment. I hope the kid learns his lesson.

I know that the rule is that you NEVER hit a woman under any circumstances.

But what if she is hitting you?  

Or what if she is shooting at you?

Or trying to run over you with a car?

What if she is assaulting your mother, your spouse or your children?

What if she is about to fly an airplane full of people into an office building full of people?

That guy was not too smart ... sometimes, you just gotta know when to quit.  Also, for a big girl, she was impressive at dodging his ineffectual punches ... but then you gotta consider the quality of her opponent.

If all of this, I guess I would kill her in self defense....OK so I am that kind of guy.
