Hard to believe one of the best adaptations of a Steven King work (it was a short story) is celebrating it's 2nd decade this year.

Pehaps one of the most enjoyed storylines of any production is the one of redemption. . .

While the movie did not do well at the box office (bit to cerebral I would imagine), it developed a strong following in the secondary market and one of those films that sucks you in every time you find it channel surfing. . .

Some of the great lines. . . . .

"how can you be so obtuse. . . is it deliberate?"

Poor Andy, he never walked the same again.  I know that isn't really the quote from the movie, but everyone was thinking it.

Man, Denzel really killed it in that movie.

"Get busy livin, or get busy dyin...you're &$;@/& right!"

Should've won a Grammy for that!

I can't tell if you are racist or going Duke on us. . . .

;)

This movie and Deliverance, had two of the most uncomfortable scenes I have ever seen.

I just have never liked movies whereby I leave the theater feeling worse than I did when I went in.

The two (5) exceptions for me are the Godfather series and Saving Private Ryan.

Oh, and Lonesome Dove.

How could you leave the theater feeling bad? I mean ***spoiler alert*** watching Steven Seagal's character crawl through all of that crap to freedom was just the beginning. Then he proceeded to take out the Warden (played by Gary Senise) and finally hug it out on the beach with his friend as the credits rolled. What about that was sad?

What?  Are we talking about the same movie?

At one time Lukas tried to claim he was a movie critic. . .

Then he panned such clearly great movies as Casablanca and Shawshank. . .

Since then when the subject comes up, he is generally roasted for his lack of taste or even a basic knowledge of what is a good movie. . .well at least the non-animated ones. . .

This is his way of lashing out. . . .

OTOH, his review of Lady and the Tramp & It's a Bug's Life were ". . a spot on match". . .

The Mexican Beach life is a lot better then the steel & concrete home life.....Just came to my mind...astounding and overwhelming. B)
