No. 5 Texas Football (11-2, 7-1 SEC) is set to face off against No. 12 Clemson (10-3, 7-1 ACC) in the first round of the 2024 College Football Playoff. They debuted at No. 5 in this season’s first CFP rankings on Nov. 5, which was their highest-ever initial ranking. The Longhorns have been in the top 25 for the last 15 rankings and have appeared 27 times overall, with their highest ranking being No. 2. As of Dec. 8, Texas is ranked No. 4 in both the Associated Press and Coaches Polls.
