Last weekend, Longhorns baseball commit Ace Whitehead had a statement game on the gridiron. Entering the game, Lampasas was the state’s third ranked team at the 4A Division I level. The challenger? The fourth ranked 4A Division II team, the Wimberley Texans.
How did he do? Outstanding. Whitehead showed off his arm talent and was not afraid to sling the ball deep. His best throw of the night came in the first quarter on a deep pass to wide receiver Michael Murray, which gave the Badgers a 14-0 lead.
Furthermore, Whitehead once again showed off his sprint speed against the Texans and finished the game with three rushing touchdowns. Eventually, the Badgers won the game 57-28.
Extra Point:
Whitehead’s Badgers are a legitimate title contender. In last season’s playoffs, Lampasas was nearly able to beat eventual champion and state powerhouse, Carthage. This season, Whitehead and the Badgers have their eyes on the prize.
