The Texas Longhorns (2-1, 0-0) bounced back from the loss to LSU by defating the Rice Owls 48-13 at NRG Stadium in Houston. Sam Ehlinger threw for three touchdowns and 279 yards before being pulled late in the third quarter. Keaontay Ingram and Jake Smith each contributed two touchdowns in the win over the Owls.

The Longhorns improved to 2-1 overall with the win, and will host Oklahoma State to open Big 12 play next week at Darrell K Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin,
