Texas to face Oklahoma in Big 12 Championship Game

Longhorns and Sooners will square off for the second time this season

After defeating the Kansas Jayhawks 24-14 in Lawrence yesterday, the Texas Longhorns (9-3, 7-2) punched their ticket to the Big 12 Championship game next Saturday in Arlington.  The win over the Jayhawks gave the Longhorns a nine-win regular season, their first since the 2009 season.

Oklahoma (11-1, 8-1) defeated West Virginia 59-56 on Friday evening in Morgantown, clinching a spot against the Longhorns next Saturday.

In their first meeting this season, Texas held off a late comeback by Oklahoma at the Cotton Bowl to win 48-45. True freshman kicker Cameron Dicker’s 40 yard field goal was the difference in the game, giving the Sooners their only loss of the season.

Texas and Oklahoma have never met in a Big 12 Championship game. The Longhorns are 3-2 in Big 12 Championship games while the Sooners are 8-1.

Kickoff will take place next Saturday at 11:00 am at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX and will be televised on ABC.
