Question:  How many times could the Texas Longhorns come back to win a best of three series after losing game 1?  Answer:  As many times as they have to.   The Longhorns, after dropping game one to Arizona State and tying the series at one a piece yesterday, worked up more magic on Sunday as they beat the Sun Devils to advance to their 34th College World Series Appearance.  Texas, which had to play from behind in the Austin Regional after losing game one to Kent State, managed to win out to advance to the Super Regional.  No stranger to Omaha, Texas holds 6 national baseball titles and 82 CWS wins (most of any school).  Arizona State, boasting 5 CWS Championships proved to be a formidable opponent in Austin’s Super Regional.

Texas starter Sam Stafford was dinged in the first inning for two runs after ASU’s Riccio Torrez hit a two run shot over the right field fence.   The Longhorns scored one in the bottom of the first to cut the ASU lead to 2-1.  The Longhorns tied it up in the 5th at 2-2 after a bizzare balk call which sent Brandon Loy to home plate.  The balk run was much needed after the Longhorns left the bases loaded in the 4th with no outs.  The Longhorns then went on the score 2 more runs in the bottom of the 6th and held that lead for the rest of the game.  Hoby Milner, the lightning lefthander went on to get the win for the Longhorns and Corey Knebel earned his 19th save.

Texas will play the Florida Gators in round one of the College World Series which begins on June 18th.  Hook ’em.
