The Texas Longhorns are 9 days away from kicking off the 2024 season against Colorado State in Austin. The next week and a half is also an important stretch for the 2025 recruiting class, with three key targets set to announce their commitments. The Longhorns will look to build on a class that currently holds 16 commitments and checks in at #14 in the 247sports class rankings.
OL Nick Brooks (Grayson HS, Georgia)- August 23rd
With Lewisville 5-star OT Michael Fasusi announcing his commitment to Oklahoma over Texas Wednesday afternoon, all eyes now turn to Brooks as the Longhorns look to add one of their final pieces to an offensive line class that already has 4 commitments. Brooks, who stands 6’7 345 pounds, will choose between Texas, Georgia and USC. The one-time Iowa commit recently moved back to Georgia for his senior season and will play at powerhouse Grayson High School. Brooks is a top 200 player in the country (via 247sports composite rankings).
DB Jonah Williams (Galveston Ball HS, Texas)- August 24th
Williams is the highest-ranked uncommitted player in the 247sports rankings, checking in at #7 overall. The 5-star is a standout on both the football field and baseball diamond, with plans to play both sports at the next level. The Longhorns were once thought to be facing an uphill battle, but a late July unofficial visit has put Texas squarely back in the mix. LSU, Oregon, Texas A&M, and USC round out the finalists. The Longhorns do not currently have a safety committed in the 2025 class.
WR Jamie Ffrench (Mandarin HS, Florida)- August 30th
The day before the season kicks off in Austin, all eyes will be on 5-star WR Jamie Ffrench as he announces his commitment. Ffrench visited Texas unofficially in the spring before returning for an official visit the weekend of June 21st. The Longhorns already hold a commitment from 5-star WR Kaliq Lockett, and the potential addition of Ffrench would give Texas one of the top WR classes in the country. LSU and Miami round out the top 3 for the Florida standout.
