Sounds like the coaches have informed him he will be the only QB recruited in the 2015 class. To be honest I do not like this. Here is his quote.

Gentry said he was told by the Texas coaches that they'll only be taking one player at his position in the 2015 class. For his part, Gentry said he plans to stay solid with his commitment and not give the UT coaches any reason to look elsewhere."

"It's a solid commitment. As of (Monday), I'm going to be a Texas Longhorn," Gentry said.

Well, he's about as good as there is out there.  He's top 2 in the country and we have Heard and Swoopes in front of him plus Ash for another year.  He seems like the type of QB that we're going to be using in our offense as well.

I, too, would rather take more QBs, but we're not going to be devoid of players when he gets here.

I thought Dormady would eventually be a commit. I would like to see another QB in the class.

I don't like it either unless we get another transfer QB for 2014.  Who is available?  Anybody left for the taking?

How many do we need? 2015 Ash is a SR, Swoopes a JR, Heard either a RS FR or a SO and Gentry a true FR. Seems like a good number and the ideal spread between them.

Obviously if Ash's health isn't right, things change.

Jeff Howe from 24/7 was at our weekly lunch and talked about the upcoming QB camp. . .3 days in June. . . .taking 2 in 2015 will depend on who they like in the 2016 class ..  .but it's possible we are done for 2015 . .. .

Also heard from a great source that Murray is Aggie or Oregon and likely is leaning Oregon today.. . he's not worried about recruiting. . .they have a chance to 3 peat .. .but with a catch . ..3 peat with 3 straight years without a loss. . .

I have no problem with this, and with Swoopes and Heard ahead of him (with Ash of course for another two years) we all the sudden have theoretical depth at QB.

Taking one QB per class isn't really a problem. PROMISING that person they will be the starter when they get here is a problem, as is anointing young guys to be the starter for the next 4 years driving all the other QBs away (unless that guys is just a phenom, and those don't come along often). Most QBs need to sit for a season or two.

In short, the problem isn't the recruiting process of QBs - it's the management of them once they arrive. We could be deep in QBs now had we only held onto the ones we recruited. However when you keep anointing Frosh/Sophs as starters, causing guys right behind them to leave, then that's where you get into problems.

Tech manages to roll in a game ready Junior or Senior almost every other season. Maybe not so much now, but Leach always had somebody ready to go. I don't know what his secret was, but it had something to do with not bringing guys in with a sense of entitlement and forcing them to ride the pines and learn for a couple of years.

Mack bought into the high risk philosophy of 3 year QB starters taking you to the promised land. Worked out pretty well until he hit that dud in Gilbert. That killed the Horns and his career.

Better to have an offense that doesn't rely on 80% completion rates to move the ball or QB demi-gods who are men among boys.

Unless, UT is (and I've heard they were) talking to JW Ketchum about coming at another position.

But once he gets here, they let him take some snaps and suddenly he's a QB again. It's like taking another QB without officially taking another QB.

As far as feedback on the prospect, I've heard everything from brilliant to average. I've seen clips and see a little of both.

Would like to see Murray land at Oregon rather than aggy.

Lewisville again got moved over to the district with the Plano schools and Allen. Marcus and FM High came with them. I don't see anyone giving Allen much trouble until well into the playoffs and they should be hitting their stride by then. It will take an upstart, exceptional effort by a team while at the same time Allen having the worst night of the year for them to lose, IMO.

I'm not entirely sure why but I really feel like LSU is going to be our biggest competitor when it comes to getting Ketchum.

Here's some footage for folks. (The catch by his receiver at :55 is a beauty)
