Why is strong a bad hire?

List the reasons why as curious

It's a sold hire IMO and talk has been the staff will be big time

He's not a bad hire. Just not a great hire that we were told we'd get.

Mack Brown was a good coach. In some places 8 or 9 wins is a good season. We were expecting a great hire. One that would unite the fan base. This ain't it if this is the case.

People are just upset that its not the coach they thought it would be. We won't know if any coach is a good hire til months from now. All I know is the new energy being brought is going to be much better than the stale program of the last four years

IMHO Strong is a solid hire that I think will be hungry to win big.

He comes from the same coaching tree as Urban Meyer.

Because he is not a splash hire by any stretch of the imagination.

This was no time to settle for second best.

He's a solid hire and can assemble an awesome coaching/recruiting staff. I'm ready to see what changes need to be made to make UT great again.

I'm disappointed we didn't go big

I will support strong

Patterson has a current D grade from me

Charlie Strong, if hired at Texas, would be a great hire and win many games and get us into the playoffs. He may not have the wins and titles like Saban but he hasnt coached a the places Nick has nor does he have the years of HC experience that Nick does.

Charlie brings a great defensive mind and passion to the HC position. If he hires the right guys, like i think he and Patterson will, Texas will have a dynamic staff that will recruit lights out in Texas and get a few gems from Florida. IF Coach Strong is the next coach at Texas, Texas will have made a great hire. Its just not Saban, who has been there done that, but thats ok.

Alabama hired DuBose, Franchoine, Price, Shula before Saban. I think we're in for tough times.

I don't know why people are so against this hire. The Saben to Texas talk has gotten intelligent men to go nuts. Strong does not have to be talked into taking the job, he wants to lead the Longhorns. He is a damn good coach. It's not about splashes folks, you want to win the press conference?? I want to win the state, the conference, and more. I want to do with with some that I believe is a positive roll model, who these young men can look up to, and I want to do it with someone who will be around the university for years. For Saben this is another job, he's done it at other schools, if he does not win another title, no biggie, he is considered great already. Strong is hungry to create a name for himself. You can't discount what he has done, he's a hell of a recruiter...to Louisville, think of what he could do w the talent and resources in the state.

I'm very pro Strong

We need a recruit Magnet. My reason for wanting Saban was that he would instantly have reversed the recruiting momentum. We would see a lot of flips to us in the next few weeks because a lot of kids want to play for him & combined with everything else Texas has to offer, we would dominate recruiting on a National scale. There are other worthy candidates including certain NFL types who could almost accomplish the same thing. Fisher has been pulling in some heavyweights too, so it doesn't have to be Saban, but unless I know who his great staff will be, I'm not completely sold on how recruiting would do (especially this year) if Strong is hired. Otherwise, I don't think he's awful, & I like him better than Mora, so he's got that goin for him...... :)

a great hire and one that unites the fan base aren't always the same. see: david McWilliams. I'm fine with strong even if he isn't the sexy hire some wanted.

What does that have to do with Texas hiring Strong, if that is indeed what has happened? Nothing
