As of this evening, the bidding process for carrying the contract of the Texas Longhorns has begun as Nike's exclusive rights period came to an end.

Addidas, Nike and UnderArmor will be giving UT higher ups official presentations in the next few weeks. Some are expecting a contract around $200 million when it's done.

So which uniform designer/provider would you prefer Texas have? Here's my order:

1. Nike

2. UA

3. Cintas

4. Addidas

lol

I already mentioned this in the Uniform thread. Adidas is pretty much out of the question IMO. I don't think they can outbid Nike and UA. Both of whom will be seriously vying for Texas. I think Nike has represented us well over the past few years. They've honored our tradition. Haven't really butchered anything outside of our practice jerseys. With that said, I'd really like to see Under Armour get a chance to represent us for a while. Nike has been so up Oregon's tail as of late that I think it's caused them to look past many of their other clients. While UA shares an affiliation with the University of Maryland, it's not at the level of Nike/Oregon. I think UA could give our teams a fresh look while still honoring our tradition. From a designer's and unfiorm enthusiast's perspective, I'm really looking forward to seeing how this plays out.

Are you saying that U/A is responsible for Maryland's uniforms? And helmet?

Who is the maker of what aggy has been having to wear?

UA's Owner and CEO, Kevin Plank, graduated from the University of Maryland. Much like Phil Knight of Nike graduated from Oregon.

Adidas is responsible for aggy.

So if he's from there, why did he do that to them? lol  That's not exactly good realtime marketing.

Ok, give me Nike. I don't ever want to look like what they did to the Maryland helmets. That's criminal.

Figures on aggy. I think I now understand that with the way they now do their numerals, I'll hate the jerseys no matter what style they are. Looks like a 70s Jetsons type font with an ugly drop shadow. Uggh.

I'm okay with the Maryland Uniforms. I don't like them. But I understand them. Nobody gave a damn about the team in Eugene, OR until they started winning and lighting ESPN up with a new crazy uniform set each week. UA is simply doing the same with Maryland. Maryland's uniforms actually make quite a bit of sense and at least reflect state pride. They'd never try anything remotely like that with Texas. Maryland is their fun school, much like Oregon is Nike's.

Oh...I don't know about that. UA has had quite a bit of "fun" with another iconic college football brand.

Here is the thing to remember. The University always reserves the right to say no. So, yeah.
Texas will also be one of the biggest clients for whatever apparel company they sign with. The apparel company is going to make sure our uniforms look good.
