It's still early for the 2016 class but in recruiting it can never be too early.

Southlake Carroll Dragon and 2016 all purpose running back Lil'Jordan Humphrey received an offer from Texas today.  Humphrey is a legit 6-5, 200 lbs and holds offers from Texas Tech, Colorado, Ole Miss, Iowa, Washington and Oregon State.

While it is still early in his recruitment we had an opportunity to gauge where his early interest in potentially playing for the Longhorns is.

We asked Humphrey where the 'Horns stood for him with the news of the recent offer.

"HIGH" he told us.

I've watched him play, he's got skills.

Where does HS and mods project this guy as far as rating?

With his height, do you see him being moved to WR at the next level?

How can you be 6'5 and be called "Lil'Jordan?" lol

I officiated a Southlake Carroll game last season and couldn't get over how well this extremely tall RB moved for his height.

Maybe he projects to WR or TE/H-back at the next level? He is an amazing athlete.

He's tough to project because he's not a running back and he's not a burner but I think he's good prospect as a receiver.  He really makes things happen.

Would have to be significant weight gain. His legs and arms are bamboo poles, but that kid made a ton of plays and dominated against Guyer

Check out 2016 Jamal Pettigrew from St. Augustine HS in New Orleans.  We saw him 9 months ago at a Nike Camp and he weighed about 200 lbs.  A tall, impressive, shifty Tight End.  Humphrey has options depending on where his weight takes him.  He's a true athlete for his size.

Definitely an athlete. As mentioned though, he won't be playing in the backfield at 6'5. He'll be an interesting prospect to watch.

i heard today that he will indeed get a look at TB if he comes to Texas.

He's got the height to play TE, but I don't know that he can carry 50+ more pounds. The new breed of TE that splits out wide (Gronkowski/Graham) is a different body type than Humphrey's. He's only 16-17 years old, so it's impossible to say, but even Jace Amaro is 260+.

With 20-30 pounds, he makes an interesting OLB project.

I know it is, but the title of the thread made me think there was updated news on Humphrey and his recruitment.  Just like Wilbon a couple of days ago.  In other words, i jumped the gun on my excitement.  Totally on me.

A premature knee-jerkulation.
