What is the expectation?

I think most of us agree that Texas is going to need some time to overhaul the program and adopt the new mentality that's being demanded by Coach Strong. But I'm curious, when do you expect to see the program turned around? After year 1? After year 2? Does he need a full four years of recruiting to completely wash out the program? At what point would you be disappointed if Texas wasn't in the title hunt? Should the 2015 class expect to be playing for a Championship at some point in their Texas tenure?

My curiosity was sparked when noticing how many Oklahoma, Aggie and Baylor fans on Twitter are tweeting recruits about not wasting their time by joining a rebuilding program. Now, most of these people simply have one motive (getting a recruit to commit to their school) and no little to nothing about the Longhorns. But it does make me wonder, if you're a 2015 recruit, what is your perspective on the Longhorn Football team? Are you expecting that it will rise back to prominence while you're there? Or are you simply interested in playing for an iconic school whilst making yourself a better player under the teachings of Strong?

I expect this season will be a rebuilding year with a final record somewhere between 4-8 and 7-5.  Losing Ash, dismissals, and key injuries have hurt our depth at key positions.  The Big 12 is a strong league, so I don't see too many guaranteed wins - including Kansas.

Next year, I'd expect to see continued improvement and in 2016 I expect to compete for a Big 12 Championship and a playoff spot.  Don't mean to be negative, but that's how I see things.

Douchebags, these people harassing high school players about their college choices.  Just ridiculous, stalking behavior.  Who do they expect to sway?  Attention whores?  We don't want those immature types anyway.

let history be your guide. DKR's first conference title and major bowl was year 3.

David McWilliams one shining moment (conf title/major bowl) was year 4. mackovic's was year 4 also.

Mack's first 3 years were 27-11, and didn't win a title until year 8, though he had multiple top-10 finsihes along the way, his first in year 4.

obviously Akers is the outlier with a stellar rookie year.

i don't know how patient our fans will be, but 3-4 years seems to be a good bet. i think the key, similar to mack, will be the perception of 'are we heading the right way'. if felt like mack was building something and it eventually payed off. if this year and next are both 7-5-ish and year three is only an 8 or 9 win season, there likely won't be a 4th year.

Not as long as some folks think. The trick is going to be not relaxing once they get there.

If Strong's teams go 14-10 over this year & next, we're going to learn a lot about how good Steve Patterson is or isn't.
