OK. It is all over the internet and it looks like Mizzou will end up leaving. The frontrunner to replace them is West Virginia. The rationale is better football presence, not necessarily better in the other sports or academics. Thoughts?

The WVU basketball program is pretty solid. Bob Huggins team will always give you a heckuva battle.

I just don't get West Virginia unless they plan to go after two other teams in the same geographical area. Then and only then does it make sense, but barely..

I assume maybe Louisville and Cincy are still options from what I've seen. WOuld prefer adding UL and BYU instead of Cincy though.

Boise St and BYU make more sense. They could drop in the North Division and seems to make more sense..

Would UT be in a division with all those east teams?

I just don't see how it works..

Huggy Bear puts together a good basketball program but they are usually mired in scandal (either as a result of him or his players). I would take WVU for sure but would rather have BYU and Boise State. The word on the street is that the Big XII is not quite as high on BYU these days as they were a month ago. Not sure why, but some schools in the Big XII are being vocal about their preferences - and BYU is not at the top of the list.

A shame, because they have good academics, decent program and the flexibility we need. Louisville brings the basketball and good academics but the football has been lackluster the last few years.

I'm game for dropping all these teams in the north to kick OU's ass.

From an article on ESPN -

While Texas A&M and TCU, which recently announced conference moves, will join their new conferences for the 2012 season, Schad notes the Big East could try to keep WVU, along with Pitt and Syracuse, in the conference for up to 27 months, per conference guidelines.
Might not be as done as it seems. The Big East is holding steadfast to the idea that it must remain a BCS qualifying conference because 20 million per year is at stake if they default to a non-qualifying BCS conference.

OK..I just became a fan..

Let's face it, the Big East is quickly becoming a Mountain West or C-USA. If more Big East schools had advertisements featuring the photo above, they would be playing in big time conferences!

Two thoughts:

1. Oklahoma will be relegated to the 2nd highest Meth producing state in the Big XII... and

2. Any team that can beat the hell out of OU is good with me.

The WVU move might be more of a pickle than first imagined. Reports are that we might be into 2012 before the approval happens. Meaning they might not actually play in the Big XII until 2013 season. Uggh.

CBS Sports Brett Murphy is reporting that the Big XII has extended an offer of membership to West Virginia and the acceptance announcement should come later today. Get your Davey Crockett hat, rabbit pelts and muskets out...

Really wishing the University of Houston was a possibility for the conference. West Virginia is a decent addition but UH would bring a lot back to the conference in terms of history. TCU was recently added and the trend of adding old SWC teams should continue.
