quite a few of my pals that i sat with at the game upon last night, kept asking me if i was ok.  mind you, i am the type of fan that once i enter DKR, i don't purchase food or drink items.  i simply cannot even think of eating or drinking anything.  all i want to do is concentrate upon the field of play, the entire game presentation, the band, the fans, the aura, you name it.. i am usually focused, and taking it all in.  however, i was hereby so very stunned, shocked, and appalled at what was happening upon the field of play last night... that i somehow became completely introverted, and just gave up speaking altogether.  once everything was over, i walked all the way back to the w hotel, didn't even think of ordering dinner.  actually, i couldn't even think, period.  i just sat there in my room staring ahead.  finally, i pulled out my iPad air, and started to check out my forums, HS included.  at first, i started just racing through the threads just to acquire the current vibe after our shocking loss.  i finally arrived at echeese's  thread "view from the cheap seats-byu" and i started to actually read.  wow, somehow i started to calm down.  echeese's account of the game, seemed to be right on target.  word for word.  he didn't try to white wash anything.. he just stated the facts of the game as he viewed it.  and it was all perfectly logical to me.  i then ventured to another thread "for what it's worth SWOOPES" i started to race through the posts, and then i stopped at mark lyon's (sirhornsalot).  once again, i was hereby appeased at what i was reading because mark's account was truly on target.  for it was exactly what i felt as i was watching the game at DKR.  as i sat there in my hotel room, it started to dawn upon me, that i had been correct all along regarding many of our stalwarts upon many of these longhorn related forums.  we harbor some really smart football geniuses out here in this great state of TEXAS.  people for whom really know football.  people, that really harbor an inherent football instinct through and through.  i then started to visit several of my other forums / websites.  OB, was simply merciless upon it's approach to the game.  those guy's did not just throw stones, they threw poisoned tipped daggers!  and they meant business.  according to many of them.. they simply do not believe that coach strong shall remain at TEXAS.  after all was said and done, and i now was beginning to feel my normal self again, i then realized that i was indeed starving and completely thirsty.  (like crazy thirsty)  i just want to thank you to our great football stalwarts upon this wonderful forum.  after reading your posts, i actually felt much better.  i started to place things into perspective, and realized that it's just a game.  nothing more.  thanks again...

you nailed it. thinking the same thing. hey, we're all pissed about the loss. it sucked. but the reasonable perspective of this board is a welcome refuge from the feces-flingers on OB.

monarch, thank you!

I was able to read this post so easily, and I haven't even put in my contact lens.  I simply have on my glasses.

I really am quite blind without correction.  I think it is 20/400 or worse without glasses or contacts.  Terrible.  They think they have managed to correct to 20/30 for driving at this point with my new contacts, but waiting for them to settle to do the final exam.

My daughter called me from the stadium, and she was very down toward the end of the third quarter.  I told her not to worry, that it will improve.  You can't expect much offense with 5 collective starts on the offensive line.  Luckily, she understands football and understood this.

Don't despair.  Too many Longhorn fans take out their insecurities on our team, and that it very unfortunate.  We will be better, stronger than ever, before you know it.  Even Darrell Royal went through rebuilds, and that is exactly what we are experiencing.  Mack left us in a world of hurt because he had no cohesive plan since the 2009 Championship game.

One of the points that announcers on FS1 made was that BYU, though not always getting top athletes, did get athletes that fit their system.  He has been there 10 years.

Did y'all know Taysom Hill was originally recruited by Jim Harbaugh.  He signed a LOI to play for him.  When he returned from his two year mission, Harbaugh was gone.  Hill wanted to enroll in January, and he found a spot at BYU.  Perhaps that gives everyone a better idea of his skill level.  However, the name does leave a little to be desired.  I prefer Colt, or Vince.

Hook 'em!

One of the many reasons I consider HS my home for Longhorn sports is exactly this. I am an extremely passionate fan and can get pretty down after a bad loss. However I have always hated the short sighted hatred at some of the other sites.

As a long time OB subscriber, I can honestly say that I had to avoid that site for 2-3 days after a loss. I would literally make the loss even worse and make me feel even more down. I just don't understand wanting to make things even worse.

The opposite is HS, where you see true discussion and not in the former of blatant sunshine pumping, but just good honest football discussion. I can actually come to this site, even after a fugly loss and get what I need.

So I share in the thanks!
