UPDATED INFO: Rice MOB tickets and the Texas Game

Earlier today we reported in a WIRE article that Rice wouldn't send its band members to the Texas game because Steve Patterson increased the band member ticket fee to $100/ member (as told to us by a MOB member).

We learned late tonight that the University of Texas Athletic Department has an agreement in place with Rice (and Cal-Berkeley for Game 3) to allot 300 comped game tickets for each university to use at their discretion. Rice has more than enough comped tickets to allow the MOB to attend the game at DKR on Saturday.

Essentially the report the Rice MOB member we spoke with in Will Baizer's article was not completely accurate.

We wanted to clarify here on the board like we did on the original story.

The Rice MOB ticket issue isn't a Patterson issue.

No band should have to pay to have access into a visiting stadium and shouldn't have to be included into an allotment.  The bands add to the atmosphere of the game and now money is affecting that as well.
