Thoughts Following Tonight's Gut Wrencher Against Texas Tech

You have been saying this @Daniel Seahorn, but it still makes no sense considering the issues we had at quarterback this season.  Also, coupled with the comments Herman supposedly made about Heard at qb to the effect that he "wished he hadn't listened to some people" as it pertained to Heard playing quarterback.  Idk, I'm sure that ship has sailed but considering the roller coaster we had at quarterback, I personally wouldn't have left no stone unturned.  And I think this staff did.  Reminds me of Watson and Swoopes.  Watson saw Bridgewater 2.0 and refused to play Heard.  Norvell switched that up immediately.  And turns out we had an NFL tight end on the roster...go figure
Totally agree...

We had a surplus at WR and a deficit at QB. Just from a numbers perspective they should've moved Heard back to QB.

Maybe his passing game wasn't that advanced, but he couldn't have been that far behind Sam. On paper he's such a perfect fit for the offense Herman is trying to run.

In what's essentially a mulligan season, there's no reason they should not have given this a try.

Totally agree!  And in essence, the staff "ruined" a season for heard considering the weeks where he had to be emergency qb and not get reps at wr.  Heard's jr season was practically wasted...

I expect Boo to transfer. If he does, talk to Jerrod and give him the option to compete for QB. There's no way we can trust Sam to make it through the entire season and it would be nice to actually be able to red shirt the freshmen QBs (what a novel idea). With more practice, etc. you can give Jerrod a package each game that includes letting him run option plays that actually give him the legitimate option to pass (again, what a novel idea).

Having 1 QB is not an option anymore.
