This Says a Lot About Charlie Strong

I know we're not supposed to copy and paste from another site but saw this post and it was just too good not to share. So apologies if I have violated any rules.

Small world situation, my girlfriend and I are in Napa in July and this older couple starts chatting us up. The wife kept asking me about Strong (I was wearing a UT shirt) and I was saying a lot of positive things about him. The wife keeps talking, sweet lady and mentions her son was the new OC at Notre Dame and how much they really love Coach Strong. Says she wishes us luck in every game next year except for against Notre Dame. When we're leaving, the husband pulls me aside and says "thanks for saying all those nice things about Charlie, he's a great coach and he will get UT back to where they need to be. I coached with him and he's a great man." Turns out that was the OC he fired midseason, now the head coach at Indiana State and his son is the OC at Notre Dame. It was amazing to see how positive the man was about Strong after what had to be one of the most crushing moments of his career.

Bobby Burton is one of his posts today talked about just how deeply Strong is invested in his players.  Bobby said that Strong routinely reviews his players class work, and is more invested in his players education than any other coach Bobby has been around.

For those that aren't aware - Mike Sanford was Charlies first OC.  He was a spread guy who had coached at Utah with Urban Meyer.

Strong is invested in the entire program players and coaches you could tell on tuesday that this bothered him personally but he had the backbone to do what was needed. The recruits who spend time around him understand that Charlie has their back he will get Texas turned around

So...2011: Strong demotes Mike Sanford, names Watson playcaller. 2015: Strong demotes Watson after loss to ND. Irish OC? Mike Sanford Jr.

What really would have been weird is if Jr was the ND DC.

I have faith in Charlie. Texas needed a coach that players want to play for. Well, Charlie is that guy. Let's see how this plays out. We might like what we see the rest of the way, who knows?
