The Trek to Round Rock Begins

[Donald Boyles]

High School Baseball playoffs begins this week. I recommend getting out to see some of these future Longhorns play at the prep level.

Future Longhorn SS Kody Clemens went 4-4 with 2 homeruns and collected 7 RBIs last night as the Memorial Mustangs took out Cy Falls 17-5..

This is my most favorite time of the year. I know you do a lot on the select ball circuit, but to me there isn't anything better than seeing someone put on the school uniform and play in May. I get a bit nostalgic about it all.

Who are the favorites this year?

I agree with you, I love this time.. I'm sitting here trying to figure out Which game is not rained out and where I am going tonight!

I don't know Don, I know Dell diamond is nice, but there was something incredibly magical as a high school baseball player about playing at Disch Falk Field. It was the only time you got to play on turf and when I was lucky enough to play in it we were only 5 years removed from back to back state championships. It was also cool to be in the Texas dugout and go in the lockerroom to pee and running into Cliff Gustafson after they got back from Omaha.
