WTF is up with this dress?!!

My esteemed colleagues, what color is this dress? The Internet is currently freaking out about this and this singular image could become what defines my generation, tears apart relationships, and pits brother against brother.

No idea. It's a picture making the rounds on the Internet. Half of the Web seems to think it's white and gold (such as myself) whereas the other/wrong half seems to think it's black and blue and has everyone pretty confused lol

lmao black and blue????? yeah it is gold now that i look from the distance it is white and gold...i dont  know where i got burnt orange from

it's just another aspect of symmetry... (for every particle (of a kind) there is an anti-particle)

In this case... sociologically speaking...

for every reasonable view/answer/solution... there is an opposite absurd view/answer/solution

American politics is a demonstration of that. Geopolitics, the same. Sports... more of the same.

State anything on twitter... responses are split.

Civilization today seems equally divided.

As a people, we split right down the middle on just about everything that can be stated.

Frankly it's become a global schizophreia.

Here is the correct answer.

Every electronic device that is a visual display screen is subject to calibration for correct color balance.

Same for any image that is captured and then run through an image program (Photoshop) and/or displayed, or printed.

I had all-day session with a traveling tech from Missouri (he travels to Texas and does sets in Austin, Houston and D/FW) to calibrate my Panasonic 42 inch plasma screen. I would put the picture up against any, the way I have it adjusted. My iMac screens should probably be calibrated but I'm not going to bother.

That picture of the dress can be adjusted in Photoshop to come out a variety of tones, and it will appear different depending on the screen you are using to look at it. Only the real object seen with the naked eye can discern the color. As far as I understand things.

That would make sense, however, showed the same photo on my phone (where I think it's white and gold) to my mother and brothers, and looking on the same phone at the same picture, they think it's black and blue!

From what I've read, it has something to do with the dim lighting of the photo and the way our brains compensate for the low lighting.

Which resembles realistic Hues, Tints and Tones you'd expect to see in real life?
