The Bellmont Breakdown - BYU post-game quotes & analysis

Good stuff, Matt.

I know it seems like there was a little bit of a blame game going on, and maybe there was...but nobody can deny that what they said was true. The offense was definitely impaired by a poor rushing attack. And, as Watson said, you've got to play with what you have.

It's refreshing, though, to hear a head coach not offer up excuses or passing the buck along. Strong said the kids weren't ready and that it was his fault. While I hate that the blowout happened, it's nice to have a guy in charge willing to take the blame.

I agree with you, Lukus.  It's nice that he is willing to take the blame; however, I'm not certain what he was supposed to do.  Mack really screwed the pooch his last few years.  I don't know what the problem was.  I don't think Mack is a 'strong' man when there is adversity, and there has been adversity since the 2009 National Championship game.  When things got tough, I believe he wanted to right the ship, but he didn't have what it takes to get it done.

Mack left the program in total disarray, and in walks Strong.  To chaos.  Five collective starts on the O-line.  Sad.  At least they go into next Saturday with 10.
