Shout out to Horn Sports contributor Justin Wells (@justinwells2424 on Twitter) for long nights and a lot of hard work on this. The Horn Sports 50 is an objective and (we feel) realistic look at the great talent pool in the state of Texas and ranks according to this. There are many great young men that wear high school football uniforms in Texas and this list looks to acknowledge the top 50 from West to East and North to South.

Enjoy and please comment.

Good stuff..It will be interesting to see what that list looks like in a few years..Any news on RSJ?

It's a good list. I like how Justin was very objective on this but it's always tough to project. Aggie sites will overrated their commits and so will Longhorn sites. But this seems like a fair list. JT Barrett is a little low though.

I was thinking swapping Barrett with kincade. JT is a better QB, but Kincade is another level of athlete.

Swoopes is where he belongs in this list I feel. Best dual threat qb and honestly Cody Thomas is a better qb than him right now. Doesn't mean Thomas gets more wins or has more success than Swoopes in college. Should be fun watching the two of them compete. Kincaid didn't get near the play Barrett, Swoopes and Thomas did in the recruiting arena but the kid is flat-out stellar. Skyline pumps 'em out consistently AND good. He will be a nice fit for the Ole Miss Rebels.

Good list. Top 10 wise I would move Swoopes up a notch or two and I would put RSJ at #1 with James a close 2nd. Good job on the list.

Why would you move Swoopes up?

Why would anyone?

What exactly has he done other than lead his team to a 7-4 records against teams that combined for 49-73...

Way to much hype with him.

Not so much an issue with him but a few guys ahead of him. I think Wilson and Hollins could go behind Swoopes.

If Deon Hollins was committed to USC, would that change your mind ?? And Dontre Wilson is the best RB in Texas this year. That kid was taylor made for the Oregon Ducks offensive artillery. That said... I love Swoopes. Just needs to refine quite a few things. And against higher than 2A level. Even though 2A in Texas is the equivalent to the highest class in most states.
