My love affair with Tom F'n Herman (TFH) should last until September's opening kick-off with Maryland. 

Chip says that he's already playing "bad cop". Can we expect a few defections this summer? We need a few more scholarships to open up due to attrition.

As a sign of showing there’s no preferential treatment being given to anyone in the program, Herman said following Tuesday’s session that the offensive staff ripped into Buechele for being careless with the football. The sophomore quarterback who threw for 2,958 yards and 21 touchdowns as a true freshman, “got disciplined as hard as anybody got disciplined,†during the first of 15 spring practices, according to the head coach.

“He was loose with the football and every single offensive coach undressed him,†Herman said. “Did up-downs and the whole nine. I’m not sure that’s the way things have been done around here before.â€

I think a recent roster showed 86 scholarship players and that was counting Bernard ( who is probably done ) and Leitao ( who knows, more than likely gone ) so that their puts us under 85. You can bet their will be some guys leave. I bet we take 20 easily for 2018 class. Remember, Herman was gonna' take 20-21 this past class.

It had to fascinating to stand on the sidelines and watch Herman at the beginning of his first practice. Probably unlike any coach most of the local media has ever seen at Texas. Goes from dancing to the rap music blaring through the speakers to having the music cut and ripping into a player with language that parents wouldn't want their kids hearing. 

That's what I've heard anyway

Here is a very interesting response from Herman's media availability after yesterdays first practice. He was asked if he gives the young defensive linemen any grace since this was the first off-season workout for many of them. The bold part is mine and was what I really found the most interesting. What was he trying to say? 

“This is not to be cute, there’s very little grace in our program. It’s fourth-and-inches every time you walk through the door. I say all the time you get five pats on the back around here – after your four bowl wins and when you walk across the stage and graduate. But, there are certain things in the back of my mind that I know to be true, that I’d rather not say publicly. Again, this isn’t the NFL. There’s no waiver wire. They’re ours. We’re going to have to play with them. They know that, and coach (Oscar) Giles and (Todd) Orlando know that. We’re going to do everything we can to be in championship form.â€

Makes me think Hermann is not all that happy with what he inherited, or at least the condition they are in.
