*****TEXAS vs. IOWA STATE Game Thread*****

The Texas Longhorns (1-2, 0-0) will face the Iowa State Cyclones (2-1, 0-0) on Thursday evening in a prime-time matchup scheduled to air nationally on ESPN.  The meeting is the 15th between the two schools, with the Longhorns holding a 12-2 record all-time against the Cyclones.  Texas looks to carry momentum from a disappointing 27-24 overtime loss to USC two weeks ago and win its second straight game as conference play begins at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames.  Iowa State boasts a 2-1 record after winning its opener against Northern Iowa, followed by an overtime loss to in-state rival Iowa and throttling Akron 41-14. .

Last season Texas defeated Iowa State 27-6 in Austin to snap a 3-game losing streak.  In their most recent trip to Ames (2015), the Cyclones shut out Charlie Strong’s Longhorns 24-0

 Team Note | Quarterback: While the reps have first team reps were being split last week, I am told to expect sophomore QB Shane Buechele to get the start tonight.

– DeShon Elliott: One of Texas’ starting safeties in DeShon Elliott sent out a tweet yesterday that seemed to worry some Texas fans.

His location says Miami, FL. I’ve had multiple fans ask me what the deal is.

I’ve checked with source and I am told he is in fact with the team in Iowa. I don’t know what to make of the tweet but I am confident that Elliott is with the team in Iowa and will be on the field tonight. – (Andrew)
