Texas State at Texas (recap added)

[Matt Cotcher]

Texas - Sophomore, LHP: Josh Sawyer (2-2, 4.54)

Texas State - Freshman, RHP: Montana Parsons (5-3, 4.42)

• The Horns beat the Bobcats a month ago but needed four runs in the final two innings to get the win.

• Montana Parsons started last month's game against UT. He was really effective, throwing 7.0 innings, striking out 6 & not walking anyone. Cantu took him yard.

Tonight is a good test to see if Sunday was a slumpbuster or if KU ran out of pitchers. Facing Parsons for a 2nd time is a perfect fit before going to Fort Worth.

[Worster1]

Horns need a win to keep the mo going..... the toads are coming up this weekend...

We could use some joeywa baseball magic tonight!

[Matt Cotcher]

The home crowd and the Texas dugout gave Coach Harrington a standing O after he delivered the lineup card to home plate.

[Matt Cotcher]

We could use some joeywa baseball magic tonight!

I'm starting tonight. We're saving joeywa's arm.

It's planned - I'll go once through the lineup, then joeywa will come out of the pen guns blazing.

[Matt Cotcher]

And we're off! First pitch at 6:06...

[utisdabomb12]

Sawyer has been so inconsistent.

Geisler swipes 2B on a 1-2 pitch that stayed high

Vallieres - K's looking, 1 out, runner at 2B

Studdard - RBI double to the LF corner just out of reach of a diving Ben J., run scores, runner to 2B, 1 out

Hill - K's swinging, 2 outs, runner at 2B

Paiz - full count then BB, 2 outs, runners at 1B & 2B

McElroy - RBI single back through the box, Studdard scores, Paiz to 2B, McElroy at 1B, 2 outs

[Matt Cotcher]

B1st

Johnson - Fouls off the first pitch then HBP

Shaw - Bunt up 1B line & Parsons doesn't field it cleanly, E1, runners at 1B & 2B, 0 out

Hinojosa - Bunts straight to Parsons who throws to 3B, but Paiz bobbles the catch - everybody's safe, bases loaded with 0 outs

[java]

We spotted 'em 2.  That's not good.

[utisdabomb12]

Not sure what Texas State is doing defensively.

[GBT]

Wow...Texas State sucks !!!!

[Matt Cotcher]

B1st cont'd

Cantu - 6-4-3 DP, Johnson scores, Shaw to 3B, 2 outs

Barrera - RBI triple to RCF (looked like CF had it but it dropped in), Shaw scores, 2 out

Marlow - BB, runners at corners with 2 down

Texas State to mound to settle Parsons.

[GBT]

Glad to see the batters being patient taking pitches instead of swinging at everything thrown up there.
