Let me ask all you guys a simple question, when you here texas longhorns football what is the first thing that comes to your mind.

me personally at this point in time, I come up with average everytime

the rep now and for the last few years has been soft. We sorta got rid of that under Robinson/Muschamp, but we earned it back again.

you hit the nail on the head, it will be exciting to see the new coach and coordinators and what road we take, would you rather defensive minded or more up tempo offense

Sadly, underachievers. I have high hopes that is all about to change but we have to get this hire right.

personally when I hear texas football I want to people to think of an uncanny attention to detail and just a nasty defense, where people are scared to get hit by our players

You guys have identified the weakness of the modern coach.

Mike Leach

Art Briles

Sumlin, Patterson, Gundy, etc...

There are very few coaches that don't specialize on their side of the ball, recruit for their side of the ball and leave the othervside lacking.

Saban's teams play physicalmon both sides. So do both Harbaughs.

I see fire at times wanting to come out in the players but a lack of coaching identity to make it happen on a contentious basis

...no matter how bad we are gridiron wise at the end of the season... i always begin the new season with the utmost optimism. why, because we are "texas"... and our tradition vs culture alone, shall more than guarantee... that we are never "substandard" upon any event.

to others, this very sentiment may come across as "grandiose vs arrogant"... but to "texas" this sentiment is as normal as the "star" upon our state flag.

the university of texas does harbor a "mystique"... it is, what it is!

My dream would be texas to be considered one of the most physical teams on the field, I know the big 12 is all the zone read option and spread offenses, but man with a defense that could tackle and actually pay attention to detail and stay in their gaps or assignments we could be unstoppable in the big 12

everyone thought manziel was some great new running qb that couldn't be stopped, but when he played teams with a defense this year he had no answer except an occasionally lucky pass play, just look at the pros and what teams dominate the landscape, seattle defense, 49ers defense, giants when they won defense, and now go back to college with bama and winning titles it was their defense more times than not winning games

I remember walking across the corner of the end zone in 1964. The Horns had just stomped a lower level Big 10 team, I think it was Indiana. Those guys were bleeding, bruised, and had the 1,000 yard stare. They looked they had been to hell and back. This is how it ought to be when teams walk off our field. I long for those days to return to DKR!

That is what I think of when You say Texas. We knock the will the crap out of you in every phase of the game. We impose our will and you bend to it.
