the aforementioned sad face, says it all.  for this is indeed sad times that we are living in.  i simply cannot get it out of my head vs heart,​

the horrible revelation of a very young 5* football star as per oklahoma, seemingly coming apart upon his birthday celebration, at a crowded event​

in front of his family vs peers.. and systematically striking a very young woman.. causing severe bone damage in her face.  nor can i forget the​

shocking revelation as per the young talented football player at texas tech, that during a court side pick up game.. just outright struck a female player​

directly in her face, causing sever bone damage.  nor can i forget the absolute searing pain inside my heart, as i referenced both of those shocking affidavits​

regarding those two young university of texas football players, now being accused of raping a young woman inside their college dormitory.​

we are all more than abreast, that there are indeed more shocking stories of frightening violence, involving many of our gifted and often very young college athletes, all over the nation.​

however, i just decided to choose these most recent events, that we are most familiar with.  upon creating an open dialogue HS mates, there are so very many​

means vs avenues, of hereby attacking this most profound situation.  we may very easily just start out, by calling them names and​

denigrating these individuals to no end.  we may start out by utilizing the typical free website jargon, of referring to these young adults, as thugs vs hoodlums​

from across the tracks.. and that they never should have been recruited upon the first place.  maybe we can start out by stating that​

many of these individuals were hereby raised upon a one person household, and well.. we should have seen these problems coming...​

and please.. do not even think about asking me if this is about "race"... nope, nope, nope.  this is not at all about "race"... this is about life.​

many of you stalwarts upon this great forum.. have shared the foremost honor and privilege of becoming graduates as per the​

university of texas.  you are astute, bright, accomplished, and world class individuals, that are hereby confident enough to provide any form of ​

debate, charity, articulated discourse, along with most anything imaginable to mankind.  therefore, i feel safe as well as privileged, to provide this dialogue to you.​

Color my simplistic or uncaring but this is exactly why I appreciate the stance CFS is taking. . . . if you allow such events to continue. . .they will.   And even if you take hard line stances. . .young men and women will still make mistakes. . .

Kids need examples to be set by adults who can earn their respect. They also must consistently be held to a code of conduct. Inconsistencies or weakness in applying the code will lose their respect. Unfairness in the code will also lead to failure.

It is very sad to see young men do things like we have seen the last week or so. After viewing the film of the incident at Texas Tech, I think that that has been resolved reasonably, and the young man will get a second chance. I have not seen all of the evidence of the Oklahoma incident, but the news reports make it appear to be a worse incident. The law will run its course up there, I suppose, and we will see.

As for the two Texas player and the sexual assault, we have a situation that on the surface appears to be a terrible act by the two young men, but we have not yet heard their side of the story. So we will let the law run its course there, and we will find out.

College, and particularly large universities, are new and strange places to many students. Some are just not prepared for the challenges presented. Most eventually handle it, some don't.

I think that Charlie Strong is doing an outstanding job with his code, and with his enforcement. We are very fortunate to have a coach of his character. Hopefully he will be able to prevent the sort of conduct that we are discussing, but after a more lax situation the last few years, it will take a bit of time.

bcherry168, i just wanted to take a moment to extend a congenial thank you.  this shall be in lieu, of your most eloquent discourse regarding the aforementioned OP.  i new that i was indeed correct upon stating that this particular HS forum very often produces some "astute, bright, vs extremely articulate" stalwarts.  and you sir, have just raised the bar upon my assertion.  due in part to the outright stressful last couple of day's.. in lieu of all of the shocking revelations, i had reached the point that i just could not sleep.  therefore, i initiated this particular dialogue / discourse, upon the hopes that i could gather a group of peers throughout this great forum.. and just talk about these profound circumstances.  

my objective upon preparing this particular discourse, was to not format it so that it was appeasing to the PULITZER PRIZE committee vs the EDITORIAL BOARD as per the NEW YORK TIMES.  but to prepare a small, and yet comprehensive format.. that delivered the overall message appealing to a wide open sports forum / website.  therefore, i was more than prepared to deal with the silly season criticisms, as per the usual suspects.  but as the old saying goes... "one can always locate the gem upon the rocks.  all one has to do.. is allow for it to surface".  well, my pal bcherry168, you have indeed surfaced.. and now HS is all the better for it.

I think it's mostly just kids being young and stupid. That and the internet makes everything so much more available. However the legal system is slow and we must allow the system to do it's due diligence. I don't want to make accusations in either case on either side. I do believe in innocent until proven guilty so I will just let the system do it's job and let it be hammered out in the courts. 

The bigger issue here is the violence towards women. I have no clue why it's become more consistent. I don't believe it's because it's more accepted in society because of the almost always disgust we have towards the male in these cases. And yet it still happens every day. People everywhere need to learn to walk away. Let it go. It's not important to get into a fight or to defend your honor or pride. No one should be hitting anyone. Men hitting men. Men hitting women. Women hitting men. Women hitting women. Just stop and walk away. Violence never solved anything, it just makes it so much worse. End violence in general. However, I don't know if that's even possible that violence can never happen in the world. It's sad really.

thank you chris!  my very sentiments exactly.  i am most certain that this is this primary issue that has had me so very disgusted these last couple of days.  the outright shocking assaults, as per these big, burly, athletes usually 6'ft on up.. striking these young women, with seemingly no form of reluctance vs shame.  i for one, just cannot understand it.  these kids have a very large amount of mentorship to rely upon regarding their very own personal problems.  (their past high school coaches, for whom have basically helped to rear them, their current collegiate coaches vs mentors, family members, church peers) you name it.. there is always someone these star athletes can lean upon whenever times get rough.  this is indeed the reason that i opened this discourse chris.  i really appreciate your knowledgeable dialogue.

I am continually amazed at the number of families I have met through my career who have a family member incarcerated. Unfortunately a lot of young people making stupid choices in today's society. Of course this isn't just with sports figures, they just get the press.

This is why I hate Internet sometimes. Context gets lost in translation and people get heated over what they believe I meant by a certain phrase. So I am not upset but here is some clarification so people all over the Internet understand.

Why do these 18 to 22 year old players break rules and laws? Because they are young and stupid. That doesn't excuse the crime and if found guilty they should be punished for their crimes. I never would think that being young and stupid is an applicable defense for rape or sexual assault. I wasn't there so I don't know what happened. That's why we have a legal system.

Right now, those players are going through that legal system the people have agreed to abide by. We must as citizens of a civilized society respect the due process everyone is entitled to. Until that has happened, I will reserve my judgement on all 3 young men.
