There is a troubling lawsuit ahead for Johnny Manziel and it involves trademark infringement. It was filed by Manziel's limited liability company, JMAN2 Enterprises LLC, against Eric Vaughan of Fairview, Texas. He owns a website selling T-shirts that read "Keep Calm and Johnny Football."
Manziel's company filed the trademark for "Johnny Football" on March 2, and it is pending. JMAN2 Enterprises attorney Bennett White said the website has not followed a cease-and-desist letter, the Bryan-College Station Eagle reported.
Here is the troubling part. The NCAA has ruled he can keep the money and not violate his amatuer status. How can one student not accept a lunch and another have his nickname trademarked, sell t-shirts and for that matter not even attend classes in person?
Now we don't have to give illegal money to athletes. If I am a team booster, I can buy 1000 t-shirts at $20 each and I just gave my favorite player $20,000 and it's not only legal but rubber stamped by the NCAA.
Rant Sports recently had a post of about the 30 Hottest Female Athletes in BikinisThe winner was Alex Morgan, woman soccer player.
but my personal favorite was number 10 Branca Ferez. My reasoning is she has an identical twin. Here is a picture of her and her sister and I have no effing idea which is which.
Former Texas forward Gary Johnson is expected to make a full recovery after fracturing his skull in a collision with an opponent during a second-division Israeli basketball game. The 24-year-old Johnson was put in a medically induced coma but has regained consciousness, the Israel Basketball Association said Wednesday. IBA spokesman Hagai Segal said Johnson was awake and communicative.
Johnson will require some plastic surgery but should make a full recovery, Segal said. He's coming home to Austin to continue his rehab. Good luck Longhorn.
What does the hiring of Patrick Suddes mean for the University of Texas? Mack Brown said he was hired to get the Longhorn's mojo back. The brand has been tarnished by three seasons with a cumulative record of 22-16.
Suddes worked for Bama's Lou Saban since the days at LSU. At Texas, he’ll be responsible for improving areas that Brown admitted have been lacking in recent years. Those areas include coordinating Texas’ summer camps, high school coaches clinic (“We always had the best in the country and we don’t any more,†Brown said) and overall recruiting efficiency.“I’m not married",said the 30 year old, "I have no hobbies except for bad basketball, so I’ve got nothing to do but stay up at the office and make sure this comes out right,†said Suddes, Texas’ first-ever director of player personnel."
And he’ll have help. Brown said Texas officially will post job openings next week for positions under Suddes. Brown declined to say how many openings will be posted, but did note one will be to work with video and social media, plus others “to help Patrick in the evaluation process.â€
Suddes, who was hired after Brown said Texas received about 100 applications and interviewed four candidates, already has made one suggestion that the Longhorns will quickly adopt. The Longhorns will hold a scrimmage on March 23, and had already invited 2013 signees and 2014 pledges and prospects. Suddes also recommended inviting 2015 prospects.
That's all for now..See ya next week for more Saturday With Uncle Beevomav!“We’ve never done that before,†Brown said. “We’ll send out a lot of emails and invites over the next four or five days.â€
