New to the board. Real quick I'm hearing the following:

1. Looking more and more like Saban coming to Austin

2. Previously the thinking was Muschamp would be Plan B. Not so much any more. Talk about Gruden has stepped up along with Pete Carroll and Mike Tomlin. For whatever reason, should Saban fall thru we are looking more and more at going the pro route with this hire.

3. Muschamp is no being seen as a third tier candidate along with Briles.

4. No mention of Strong

5. Cincinnati & UCF have been talked about for a while. Although these schools don't excite anyone, I've been told the good news is that Saban could now go into Ohio and Florida and recruit kids letting their parents know that they will get to see their boys play in-state should they come to UT.

Welcome to the board. Great info. Cincy and UCF would definitely expand the Big 12 footprint eastward and northeast a bit.

Welcome aboard broseph.

I am very interested to hear more about Tomlin and this Carroll thing that keeps coming up.

SG,

It is good to have you aboard. Look forward to seeing you post more often.

I'm not too excited about Cincy or CFU. However, I have been told to look at the bigger picture.

If & when we hire a nationally known coach, having both these schools in our conference will open the borders to FL & Ohio.

good points. I am still not happy we did not get Louisville. Also McPhaul any chance we could ever go to SEC, Pac, or Big?

Thanks for the info.

Personally, i would hope the next AD had more input in deciding the next coach. Also, i want someone that can recruit but just having a competent coach will be nice.

Regarding Cincy and UCF, i dont like adding either school unless we have no other choice. Theses are not brand schools that really expand the footprint. Yes, Saban might be able to get a player or 2 from there but for the big 12 this does not make us stronger. What about after Saban(or whoever), we need to consistently be able to get good talent from there bc we have a lot of talent in this state that we need to get. Dodds, mostly, decided Louisville and to a greater extent, FSU/Clemson/Miami should not be offered and that sux for the future of the big 12. Cincy and UCF wont help long term. When the GOR expires in 12 years, what then? We cant hang out hat on Cincy and UCF, teams that will consistently lose 4+ games in Big12 and not contend for titles.

I am not a fan of Muschamp coming back here bc i think there are better coaches to be had. Gruden, i dont buy a a good college coach and he has been out of coaching for a while. Pete Carroll, i can see as a good fit but will he leave a top 2-3 NFL team to come here? Has Tomlin ever coached college? i dont like Gruden or Tomlin as option at all.

I hope new AD can make better choices.

When exactly are they going to hire the new AD? Are we talking end of season or next year?

The new AD should be announced in late Oct or NOV time frame.

The other I was told about realignment is that it really does not mean as much with the new playoff system be implemented.

These are very exciting times right now. Ultimately the AD hire will shed alot more light... Really exciting though. Thanks all for the info... Change is good

I think there is talks that the other conference(Sec, Pac, Big10) might do away with CCG, to try to get more teams in playoffs. Doesnt make sense to me how but there were talks on twitter.

I am all for adding a couple of teams to get to 12 but we have no one worth adding now. UCF and Cincy might be 2 best left but comparing Big 12 to the other conferences and you can clearly see that we dont match up(program for program).

Most important thing is that SOS needs to be a factor! If it does, we better be playing some nice OOC games.

Please god do not let us join the SEC. I have no interest in being part of that conference or the complete ridiculousness that takes place there. I'd prefer to see us add some quality members and stay Big 12. Our conference does a good job of staying out of the shitty spotlight, minus okstate this year. I'd like it to stay that way.

If given the choice would you choose to move to the ACC or Pac-12?

The ACC would be my favorite. IMO the ACC has better football, BASKETBALL & darn good baseball.

In addition, I believe the southern culture is important to maintain.

Agreed 100% Academically it seems like it would be a better fit too.
