REMEMBER Goliad

I grew up near Goliad and love the area between there and SA. My father owned/trained quarter horses and raced at the La Bahia race track in Goliad. So, as a kid, I was always over at the missions and monument. The last place I lived in Texas (near Canyon Lake), was close to a back road that headed to 181. From there to 239 straight to Goliad. Always stopped by the Fannin Memorial also on the way to Victoria. It was the long way home but scenic with many memories.... Might check those places out on Google maps tonight.....

I've never been to Goliad or Gonzalas but think we are going to road trip that way this summer. . .

I grew up outside San Antonio, Randoph AFB. . .

If you go through Goliad and have time, stop by the court house. There are 8-10 Texas historical markers by the sidewalk outside the court house. There's a lot of very interesting history on those markers, worth your time. It will make you want to read a great Texas history book...I recommend "Lone Star" by T. R. Fehrenbach.

While attending UT, I took two Texas History courses, both taught by Dr. L. Tuffly Ellis. I enjoyed those courses immensely and made an "A" in both, I'm proud to say!

Gonzalas has a half loop around the town now. Makes sense saving the town streets from the big trucks driving through. Always head through there on the way back from home. Miss driving through the town. I should clarify that I grew up near Victoria, but spent a lot of time in the Goliad area. If you're driving through Gonzalas, might as well head over to Shiner. Some really nice back roads Texas scenery....
