From Facebook Friend Shane Hardin. I'll take a stab at them:
He deserves to remain thru the year. Brown will be leaving a program in better shape than what he found but is in desperate need of reinvigorating. I have a few thoughts:
He should be allowed to finish the year IF he agrees to leave AND helps hold together the class so he doesnt screw the next guy.
- I know the Big 12 is still a goal for this team, should we go hard for it or start letting some new guys play (Swoopes?)
Brown is hell bent on saving that redshirt, and he HAS to realistically know this team absolutely can not win a Big 12 title. If he truly knows that, why burn Swoopes for a lost season?
- if by some odd miracle and we do win the Big 12, would that save Mack's job?
That will probably happen anyway. Until Red McCombs and Joe Jamail give a crap, nothing will change.
- DeLoss retires and Mack as A.D.?
This is a nightmare scenario for a new coach and can not be allowed to happen. Anyone short of Nick Saban will be poisoned with Coach Clap Clap looking over his shoulder, plus an already delusional coach would have the ability to fire the guy and reinstall himself down the road. The program needs a top to bottom change from the culture of failure.
- candidates for head coach?
First Call: Nick Saban Past that, I think David Shaw, James Franklin, and Kevin Sumlin (should he not want the NFL) are next on the list in some order.
BUT, I still have game specific questions:
- why did the sweep that Mississippi ran that seemed to be somewhat stifled in the 2nd quarter, start to be so successful in the 3rd?
Coincided with Steve Edmond being put back in the game. Slows down the entire defense. It was an inexcusable failure of Greg Robinson to still have Edmond at LB.
- why could we not adjust to the simple offensive game plan of Mississippi?
The defenders have no heart, no resolve, and are extremely undisciplined football players. They do 90% of the offenses work themselves.
- McCoy hit a couple of downfield passes and then threw a couple of really bad passes. After that, the offensive game plan went beyond conservative. Why?
The problem is McCoy doesnt have an arm for major college football, and it was a waste of a scholarship for a "legacy". The offense is predicated on being able to hit "all" the throws at "all" the ranges, and McCoy cant do that. The conservative plan was to mask his failures, and once the Rebels finally adjusted to clog up where McCoy could throw, it shut the passing game down. On top of that, McCoy is so turnover prone, and Texas was so far behind, there was no way Major could risk him giving the Rebels extra possessions.
-we seemed to be running the ball with success with J. Gray. Then we went away to get Joe and Malcolm some carries. They were not near as successful. Are we that concerned about making all three happy to the deteriment of winning?
No, trying to keep them all fresh instead of riding the hot hand. I also think this is one of the areas where Mack screws with the offense. We have seen two halves of football where I can guarentee Brown got out of Majors way. the second half of NM St and the Bowl game. You see the results.
- after the McCoy fumble, why was he still in the game? Why not Overstreet?
I have no clue. Overstreet could have won the game last night. Why we dont play the best guys....
- why were any starters in the game in the 4th quarter? Thats how Ash got hurt.
Trying to win the game, not showing a sign of giving up.
