We heard yesterday from a source that Shane Buechele has been “hobbled” during practice this week and that there is a good chance that Sam Ehlinger could get the start against the Wildcats.

Nothing has been made official at this time, but we wanted to pass it along.

Also mentioning that Toneil Carter continues to get meaningful reps with the first team offense. I would expect his workload to increase.

Daniel, have you heard anything about 2 new starters on the OL?

Seeing speculation that Cuney might start at C due to Shackleford getting dinged up in practice this week and Okafor possibly starting at LT in place of Nickelson.

On TFB as well – Quarterback Starter: Per a source, Sam Ehlinger will get the start tomorrow.

OMG! I wouldn't even let our center and guards be involved in contact drills at the moment.

Why is the thinnest position on the depth chart always the one to have another injury? The freaking injury bug has to be from Oklahoma.

No wonder Buechele is hobbled he doesn't want to get killed.

Bleacher report reported that "Texas likely to Start Ehlinger."

This is not a criticism by any means, but some players seem to be prone to injury.  Shackelford appears to be of that ilk.

Shack got his ankle rolled up on during practice, but is still going to give it ago. Haven’t heard anything different on the tackles. Should be Nickelson and Kerstetter.

He’s been snakebitten since he arrived. I hate it for him.

Seen a tweet that said Ertz hasn't practiced all week and is a game time decision?  Could be a troll job.

Depth chart this week has Nickelson OR Okafor at LT.  With JP backing up Kerstetter at RT. Herman mentioned in his last PC that they talk to Brian Okafor.  Something about needed his help to develop more quickly.  Obviously they are not infatuated with Tristans play thus far considering they moved Okafor from RT to LT

It wouldn’t shock me to see Okafor get some time at LT. They seem content with how Kerstetter is performing at RT, so it gives them the opportunity to push Nickelson a little bit.

Competition wont make Nickelson better...talent would  :D

Anyone else think Buechele's days are numbered at UT? I can't help but feel that Herman wants Ehlinger as his every game starter as soon as is possible. I realize Shane is hurt but just can't shake the feeling that he will be a transfer candidate after this season. I have nothing I can point at that says Herman wants Ehlinger as his starter other than some vague comments by Herman that seem to somewhat praise Sam and diminish Shane's accomplishments. I guess its just a gut feeling on my part.

Eh?  What comments?  I watch every PC and QA and havent noticed any kind of preference.

I watch the PC's as well, but like I said they were statements that were vague. I couldn't even quote you one. I just have the feeling that Herman is looking for a way to get Ehlinger as much game time as possible. Maybe I'm just being loco

for now Shane is the starter when healthy but when Sam plays he may win job with his play

the o-line needs to be wrapped in bubble wrap

kstate offense puts stress on LBs and Safeties who both have to determine if it is rb run play or pop pass then defend Ertz with QB draw plays which are called most on kstate 3rd down plays

If CTH wants Sam as his starter, why start Buechelle vs ISU?
