Someone just asked me what I knew about the plans to have Max Wittek on the 40 acres and if they are falling apart. Supposedly we are looking at a JUCO from Scottsdale CC tomorrow.

Anyone else hearing this?

TOS is reporting it apparently. I'm not sure what the issues are.

Uh, oh.

I knew the longer Wittek news dragged on, it wouldn't be good for the Longhorns.  I can't believe he'd choose Hawaii over us after visiting the 40 three times!

Supposedly Bellmont has raised some issue. It's not Wittek getting cold feet. Not sure exactly what is going on, but let's hope it gets sorted out quickly.

Good grief

I know Wittek isn't the "perfect QB", but he's a helluva lot better than our options if Ash can't go!  At least he's been under fire in the Pac-12 and has meaningful game experience.  That's not a dig at Swoopes, but I didn't see anything in the spring game that makes me believe he's ready to start.

a poster on a private board said there are academic issues.

Wittek is not that good and maybe he wants to go somewhere that he knows he'll start for the next two years. He certainly doesn't want to come to a BIG program and sit.

Who wants to go watch a kid puke at school?

I really don't think this is a loss that Longhorn fans should mourn... College athletes transfer schools for one reason. Playing Time.... I don't care what they say to the reporters, If Wittek still transfers it will be so that he can be the CLEAR starter... that wouldn't have been the case at UT.

I know that USC gets people all excited but where I played we had plenty of "Big" school transfers... they usually aren't starting where they were for a reason.

I've read some rumors on the 247 site that Wittek may have had some sort of issue at USC that now has placed his graduation date in jeopardy which would have meant his arrival time here at Texas would have either been much later or not at all if he can't graduate quickly enough from USC.  It would seem to make sense if this were the case vs a last second concern about the Texas offense after he's met with coaches at least 3 times and been on campus as many times with glowing feedback and verbalizing his intent to come to Texas to other Texas players etc.

It may not be ideal, but getting Heard some good playing time will certainly help for the future...as long as it's not the type of PT that Swoopes got last season.
