Poona Ford

I just want to take a minute to appreciate Poona Ford.  Not only is his name freakin awesome, but the work he's doing on the defensive line so far this season cannot be understated.  Truth be told he has A LOT to do with the fact that Malik (along with Johnson) is able to run free and just attack the ball carrier.  He constantly holds his position even in double teams; freeing up the linebackers (see previous statement).  We're gonna miss this kid next year.  STAND UP POONA FORD!!!

Poona has been rock solid in the middle of the defensive line. Even against Maryland, he was taking on double teams and opening up potential plays for the linebackers. Texas is certainly going to miss him next year.

I've always believed that in college, lineman are better in their junior and senior years. The main reason is that there can be a huge difference in an 18 yo's body and a 22-23 yo. No matter how talented you are, a bigger, stronger, more experienced person can beat you 4 out of 5 times. Sure we got some great talent but they're young. Poona took a couple of years before he started to make a name for himself. Now that he's a senior, he's bigger, stronger and more experienced.

I watched an interview of Poona recently and could not believe the difference in the way he looks now, compared to the way he looked right before he left home to come to Texas.
