Peyton Aucoin Transferring From Texas

The first attrition candidate has emerged. Redshirt freshman TE Peyton Aucoin announced on Twitter he is leaving Texas.

As much as we need tight ends I am assuming the coaching staff just did not like his ability to contribute. Or who knows maybe it was a personal matter on his part.

It's disappointing that Peyton is leaving unless his skill set just doesn't fit the new offense. Did he catch any balls in the spring game? Good luck to the young man!

I think it's more of his style didn't fit. Remember watching his HS hudl and he was basically a 6th OL, never caught passes.

Does anybody know what this puts us at numbers wise currently?

It's just not a style fit for him. Peyton caught all of ~3 passes in HS. He wasn't going to get much PT in this offense. Honestly a good decision on his end if he wants to see the field. I wish him the best. Who knows, maybe he will end up in Tampa.

Did the staff ever consider moving Peyton to OT ala Connor Williams?

Seems like that was a viable option with his blocking ability. Or maybe Aucoin was reluctant to change positions?

He could have certainly attempted to move, but I just don't think it was something he wanted. I'm not entirely sure though. Regardless, he made the right decision for himself imo. He's a great kid

Reading his statement, it's probably safe to say the gist of what he was told was that his scholarship wasn't being renewed. 

Probably just the first that we've heard of that will get that same message.
