There are many Longhorn fans who are ready to jump off the cliff today. Give Coach Strong a chance and let him actually coach a season. I don't want to have another Coach February who can't bring it home in the fall. Texas fans need to step back and let the man and his staff work.

Yes ...what he said.. Take a deep breath.

I have stepped back......just need information on how far down the cliff is the bottom. All I need to hear as in LETS SPEND SOME MONEY that we have.

Yep it's all over the boards, let them jump. In the end cooler heads will prevail and the results of the team the takes the field on August 30th will be the true measuring stick. #texasstrong

This is crap. He's had almost two entire days. That's plenty of time to have turned the program around. Hell, two days after they hired Kevin Sumlin, aggy had had two additional national championships on the side of their stadium to brag about.

Negative on the stepping back. I am freaking out.

Charlie just doesn't realize how important it is to get a high powered OC.

Mack had us putting up with Greg Davis for years. I can't afford to go through that kind of dismay again.

Out of curiosity, how do you know that Charlie doesn't know how important it is to get a high powered OC?

With all the estrogen flowing through the fan base, Coach Strong is probably scared to death to even drink the water down here.

Let's not ever use the phrase "scared to death" again!

I think the problem is that everyone wanted to continue to be excited. They didn't want to have to take a wait and see approach. If Watson is hired it definitely goes into a wait and see approach with a very short leash.

nothing is official just yet:

but if Strong has taken both his coordinators and made them among the top paid coordinators in all of college football something is wrong. That was not a top staff at Louisville. Bringing a couple of guys with you because you're comfortable is one thing. Bring in a Coordinator who struggled to score points with a Heisman level QB is another. Watson was fired from Nebraska for being too conservative and not developing his QBs. He backed into the UL job when his boss was struggling. This is not a top OC or anywhere near it. Bedford is not a great DC, but since strong covers that side of the ball I have no worries.

we're all in a situation where we just have to trust Strong, but if it's Watson I think it's going to be a very hard sell to recruits going up against Stoops, Briles, Gundy and Sumlin. I just hope he changes his offense to suit what the kids in the state want to play in. Scoring 20 points against Houston and 24 points against Memphis while bleeding the clock out on every play isn't going to cut it.

Just have to have faith in Strong at this point.

I would assume that we aren't going to pay them that high. We could probably get away with paying them the same amount they were getting and UL. Lord knows they weren't going to be hired anywhere else.

Lol. I'd sooner be insulted by Red McCombs on national radio than be chastised again for using "that phrase." (Obviously, I'm in the minority).

As bad and frustrating as Applewhite was, Watson's track record says he would be worse.

I am starting to see similarities between Strong and Fred Akers. Hope I'm wrong.

I am sorry, but are you really? I have been watching Texas football for over 50 years and I cannot begin to make that call. After all these years, you can draw a comparison to Coach Akers? I find it hard to draw that parallel

Goodness, give the man a chance.

Ahh. He wants to hire Watson? That was my first clue.
