From the same team that brought us the multiple Emmy Award-winning and ratings-record breaking HATFIELDS & MCCOYS, TEXAS RISING is an 8-hour miniseries that details the Texas Revolution and the rise of the Texas Rangers. Texas Rising stars Bill Paxton, Brendan Fraser, Ray Liotta, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Olivier Martinez, Thomas Jane, Crispin Glover, Rhys Coiro, Jeremy Davies, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Christopher McDonald, Max Thieriot, Chad Michael Murray, Robert Knepper, Jeff Fahey, Rob Morrow and Kris Kristofferson, and is directed by two-time Oscar-nominated director Roland Joffé (The Killing Fields, The Mission).

In 1836, west of the Mississippi was considered the Wild West and the Texas frontier was viewed as hell on earth. Crushed from the outside by Mexican armadas and attacked from within by ferocious Comanche tribes—no one was safe. But this was a time of bravery, a time to die for what you believed in and a time to stand tall against the cruel rule of the Mexican General Santa Anna (Martinez). The heroic General Sam Houston (Paxton), the rag tag Rangers and the legendary “Yellow Rose of Texas†lead this story of the human will to win against insurmountable odds. At the end, the Texas flags stood tall and victorious, claiming a piece of history for all eternity.

Wow, that should be good - wish we didn't have to wait until Memorial Day to see it. Thanks for sharing.

This series begins this evening folks. Should be a dandy!

;This evening?  I though it was tomorrrow?

There is a promo for Texas Rising: The Lost Soldier at 9:45-10 p.m.

Then at 10 there is the promo "Avenging The Alamo: The Road to Texas Rising" and lasts until 11 p.m.

Series starts Monday night.

Watched the first 90 minutes this evening, not terribly impressed thus far. I was expecting a higher quality show based on the Hatfield/McCoy series from a few years ago. Who the hell is the Alamo "survivor" guy going all Rambo on the Mexican scouts? That southpaw sure can sling a Bowie knife well!

Can't take Brendan Fraser serious in any role, always sounds and looks like a frat guy attempting to act. He was perfect for the caveman role he played in the Pauly Shore flick yrs ago though!

It's not bad, but agree, it's not of the quality I thought we'd see.

Early in the movie they showed Sam Houston in camp at Gonzales. Gonzales with mountains and desert. smh.  They show Nacogdoches as prairie and buffalo. Nacogdoches, the town built in between 150 ft pines. smh

Hollywood should give a look see at the places they're supposed to be showing before they try to replicate it.

Lots of mythical characters, trying to add some flavor and interest. Not bad, but maybe a tad too much of it.

Whoever Santa Anna is, he's doing a very decent job with the part.

Deaf Smith character is interesting.
