Just ready to start the new era of ______ ________ Texas Football
I couldn't disagree more. It's UT Football. No coaches name should ever be used a a modifier again.

Edit - Max Olson tweeted Patterson also said he expects to have the new coach with their staff in place and Texas back in business before Jan 15

that obviously means quick hire

It will be interesting who the new coach will bring as asst. coaches with the dollar amount they will have to play with.

LHN was running a crawl all during the game that the list is Fisher, Briles, Franklin and Strong. With the imposed Jan 15th deadline, they must already have their guy.

It is enough time for our new HC and his team of Merry Men to get all of the 5 Star players that TEXAS needs. That is all...over and out.

Definitely has to be this week so the new Skipper has time to bring in staff and review recruiting class. No later than Friday IMO.

Here is Patterson's quote:

“We have to be back open for business in the middle of the month once the dead period ends,” Patterson told reporters prior to the Alamo Bowl. “Oh, I think we’ve got to be done by then. “The coach has to put together a staff and get up and running, keep the recruits we got and fill up any spots we’ve got open.”

Looks like he also wants the staff to be put together by the time the dead period ends. So we should know something VERY SOON. I am so pumped up about this I can hardly wait.

Hook'em!

I read the quote to mean that he needs the coach in place by mid-month, because the coach will need to start talking to recruits (after dead period) and will need to put together a staff (presumably referring to the same period). I don't interpret that statement to mean that he's expecting the staff to be in place by Jan 15th. We could still be waiting a bit.

The next 7 days are going to be crazy.

Question: Bigger national "splash hire"...John Harbaugh or Saban? I think Saban might have more "shock" value (what, he lied again...not retiring at Alabama?) but not sure that means it's more of a home run (splash hire) to the national media and more importantly to recruits. Obviously, you can't go wrong with Saban but there is something about John Harbaugh (is he really a serious option?) that could possibly be the better hire in the long run (age, X & O's, etc.).

I know he has little college experience which is a legitimate concern, but I can't imagine a super bowl winning coach not having recruits eating out of his hand when he steps inside their homes. Isn't that really the main concern for not having college experience...recruiting? I think Saban is still 1a but not sure John should not be 1b instead of Fisher.

Thoughts?
