Can't blame tech for not releasing brewer to a direct competitor. Can't imagine we Horns fans wanting a player to transfer to OU or the like and play against us, even if they weren't any good at Texas. However, seems harsh given the fact that he will graduate and effectively be through with his education at tech. Would have been great to get him to the40 acres, but he should have received a full scholly offer coming out of HS instead of a crappy gray shirt offer. Wishing Brewer good luck in winning the V-tech job for the next 2 years. Maybe the football gods will arrange a tech v tech bowl game and he can kick Kingsbury's and the raiders asses!

If polled on which school I thought he would transfer to, Va. Tech would have definitely been at the bottom of my list. Good luck to him - he has some talent.

Actually, Matt, isn't this SOP for inner conference transfers - even across the nation?

doc is right, I believe. It's very rare for a kid to be allowed to transfer to a school in the same conference, or even on the schedule in the next couple of years, I'd imagine.

I don't like that a school can control where a player goes. It's the antithesis of Americana. Americans believe in freedom. They should at least have 1 free move. Any other college student can transfer to any school they want to but not ones that play college sports? Come on. Just my opinion.

I agree Chris. If a coach is permitted to leave then the player should be allowed to leave too.

I have seen a ton of Qbs at college camps and Brewer may be the best i've seen. He lit up the Tech camp and they offered. If he didn't hurt his back there is no doubt he would be starting for TTU right now. I do know TTU has probably killed their Lake Travis connect with the Brewer and Mayfield situation.
