Matt Joeckel Leaving A&M

best of luck to matt. he's leaving with his degree, and looks like he was 3rd on the depth chart after the spring.

leaves us with precarious little depth going in to 2015.

other concern is that if allen starts next year, no doubt that hill will transfer after the season...and we'll be right back to where we started even if we do land kyler murray.

the coaches have honed in on murray as their only QB recruit for 2015, but they now need to look at a guy like chason virgil to come in as a QB/ATH for depth purposes.

Managing QBs and players' egos has become the toughest job for CFB head coaches.

Nobody wants to "pay their dues" and learn the job as a back-up for a season or two.  We live in an instant gratification world.  Hell, UT may have to move Overstreet back to QB and line up in the wishbone if Wittek doesn't sign with us!

totally agree. blue chip players sign with the intent of starting early. when they dont start early, they go and find a place that will give them the opportunity to start.

that doesnt apply to joeckel, but it does apply to matt davis and jameill showers and likely to kenny hill (assuming that allen either starts or gets a bulk of the PT next year).

it's not a recruiting problem. it's a retention problem.

Question for you recruitniks...who was thought to be a better player coming in to college: joeckel or wittek. just curious.

Might take Garrett Gilbert's place.

Possible landing spots for A&M transfer QB Matt Joeckel (eligible in 2014): #TCU & #SMU

wittek by far. he was a 4 star/blue chip rivals 100 type player. offers from a lot of big time schools.
