Just over one week ago, the Longhorns extended an offer to 2022 athlete, Jarred Kerr. Recently, Kerr has been picking up steam in the recruiting world. In just over two weeks, Kerr has received seven new scholarship offers from schools such as Florida, Notre Dame and Oklahoma. Last weekend, I covered Jarred’s game against the Thrall Tigers.

Week Two:
Last season, Kerr won the District 8-3A Division II Overall MVP despite being just a sophomore. This season, Kerr has been off to a hot start and has propelled Lexington to being the state’s seventh ranked team at the 3A Division II level.

Against Thrall, Jarred seemed to score a touchdown every time he touched the ball. He had a good presence of mind when he had the football, and was able to come up with well-timed jukes that led him to the open field. To end the night, Kerr had scored four rushing touchdowns. In addition to playing running back, Kerr’s presence was also felt as a safety. There were multiple occasions in which Jarred brought down the opposing team’s running back on the far side of the field.

Extra Point:
His elusiveness and athleticism reminded me a little bit of current Texas Longhorn, Jordan Whittington. In addition, both athletes have a similar stature. However, it will be interesting to see how Kerr performs against tougher competition. This weekend, Lexington will face Rockdale. This matchup should provide Kerr with a legitimate test, as Rockdale is the state’s sixth ranked 3A Division I team.

Miles Logged:
77 miles (round trip).
