This past weekend, I travelled to Lampasas to check out Longhorns baseball commit, Ace Whitehead. Entering the season, Whitehead’s Lampasas Badgers were ranked as the state’s third best football team at the 4A classification. In addition, Lampasas was opening their season against the 15th ranked Brownwood Lions.
Week One:
Last season, Whitehead passed for 4,259 yards and rushed for 723 yards. Furthermore, he also was responsible for a total of 75 touchdowns. However, he could have beaten a talented Brownwood team with just his legs. Ace accounted for three of his teams’ touchdowns, including one through the air and two via the ground.
The most impressive play of the night was Ace’s 92-yard touchdown rush in the third quarter which gave Lampasas a 48-20 lead. However, in the second quarter, Whitehead also threw a beautiful pass to receiver, Michael Murray, in the corner of the end zone. The completed pass resulted in one of the game’s defining moments as the Badgers distanced themselves from the Lions.
Extra Point:
If Whitehead is as talented on the diamond as he is on the football field, the Longhorns will be in good hands. Last season, Ace maintained a .527 batting average to go along with an ERA of a 0.92 on the mound.
Miles Logged:
135 (round trip).
Longhorns Recruiting Notes:
Hallettsville’s Jonathon Brooks @2brookss muscles his way for an 18 yard TD run. Kick incomplete. Shiner 21, Hallettsville 13. 4:11 2Q. @hbteams pic.twitter.com/FMvXWLqiJA

Lastly, the Longhorns extended an offer to 2022 3-star athlete, Jarred Kerr, of Lexington, TX.
