Clemson fan here, so outside of thinking that Mr. Manziel is one of the larger pricks I've seen enter the zeitgeist lately, I don't necessarily have a dog in the fight. Also not much of a meme-guy, but I was thoroughly shocked when I couldn't find this particular turn of phrase used during a recent Google search. So I just had to.

If somebody else has beat me to the punch, my apologies. I just know that it'd be my dream to have a similar story coming out about our rival 3 and a half weeks before kickoff, but a similar autograph-scandal would require Mr. Clowney to actually be able to spell his name :)

I have to disagree about Manziel being a prick. He seems to be a goofball with parents who have never set boundaries or said no in his life.

Remember this is the parents who were ready to roll with "Johnny f##king Football" t-shirts

and let me be the first to welcome you to Horn Sports. We welcome input from other universities and views from outside the Longhorn bubble..

I think the answer is somewhere in the middle. He's not 100% prick, but at this point if he doesn't meet or exceed the lofty bar he set in 2013, the fans and possibly even the team could turn on him...depending of course on how the W-L record is looking.

His parents are morons. I don't put 100% of the blame on them, however. A 20 year old is still a man, not a boy. At some point you either gotta know better, or else you're never going to know better.

Welcome aboard! Strong first post. Beat Georgia.

Someone's bound to make a movie about this debacle. If so, who would play Johnny Manziel? I'll go Fred Savage.

Manziel is as lost as his parents are. He comes from oil money... His whole life hes been taught, you dont do anything, unless you get in return. Case in point, one of his high school teachers wanted his autograph... Seeing nothing to gain for him, he rudely turned the teacher down... He doesnt carry the values or morals most of us do. He cares nothing honestly about his team, and sorry Aggy lovers, he could care less about you too. These are all major character flaws that will hold him back at the next level. I feel for kevin sumlin, he has his work cut out for him, there is a reason UT passed on him, and no the nation is seeing it. Johnny football is just a poor sap with some football talent.. Talk about him in 5 years, and i bet you, few will remember him...

All great points. However I think Johnny Football will live in history and on the front-burner of legend because of the wheels-off story behind his rise to success and equally rapid descent. The true question is this: How does his story end?
