He has the experience. Was RB coach under Les Miles at Oklahoma State AND LSU. We could do a lot worse. Names like Tatum Bell, Vernon Morency, Joseph Addai.....

Qualified for sure.

An assistant role suits him better. His head coaching shot at Memphis did not go so well but he would be a good recruiter too. Knows the talent in Texas and Southeast region.

There will be others interviewed I'm sure. Remember Claude Mathis from DeSoto HS was mentioned as a candidate. Still think he gets an interview.

Porter was named National Recruiter of the Year by Rivals.com in 2007 & 2009. I say bring him to Austin.

This would be a great hire by Mack. He is one heck of a recruiter and has an eye for talent as well. Hope we get him and stick him in East Texas and Houston.

Wild theory here: Chip Kelly goes to coach the Eagles and UT Hires Claude Mathis as RB coach, Dontre Wilson hops on board to UT. With the Hicks decommit we could use a hellafide stud rb in this class.

Reading Twitter and all these peeps are dissecting the hire. He's a freaking running backs coach!!!!!!! Dude is qualified and good but won't single-handedly turn the program around by himself at the position. Damn. I am watching well-respected website/blogglers argue over this. It is ridiculous!

We have 3 horses in the stable that need to be groomed. Porter will be the guy to do that.

The potential scandal related to Will Lyles worries some about the hire but I think the staff and administration have done their homework.
