Is Ash done for the season/career?

Since this is now Case's team, does anyone know if a decision on Ash's season has been made? AND...did he suffer a second concussion against K-State or is the "recurring symptoms" story the true story?

Personally, and I say this as an average Joe and not a neurologist, I find it strange that he had symptoms until late in the week, had the symptoms disappear in time to be named the starter only to have them pop back up during the first half of the game. Considering all of the attention being placed on the long-term consequences of any kind of traumatic brain injury you'd think that both the medical and coaching staffs would've been a little more cautious/conservative in getting David back on the field. At the very least, you'd think that Mack and Major would've eliminated the designed QB runs rather than risk the kid's season/career on one unlucky pop from a 250 lb linebacker. If I were one of David's parents I think I'd have a few questions for the docs and for Mack that I'd want answered and then double checked by my own neurologist.

I think the injury is much more serious that what Belmont is telling us. I have had a couple concussions and from the reading I've done, you are not usually out this long. Also, the fact that he is being ruled out so early in the week means, to me, that's the symptoms arnt going away. Season seems lost. It's would be pure speculation beyond that.

I wrote these a few months back. My daughter took one hell of a blow at her birthday party. She was symptomatic for months, but would have days where we thought we turned the corner and days where I had to carry her out to the car with a blanket over her head to block out the light.

Ash is not going to be a next level quarterback. Youve got to think about life. Walk away now while you are healthy.

He came back for K. State but without getting hit exceptionally hard he couldn't come back for the 2nd half. It makes you wonder if he did come back whether another coach would want to test him thinking it would be easier to beat a Texas team without Ash than with him (I'm purposely not trying at accuse someone like Stoops of send a safety to take a shot at Ash and try to knock him out of the game).

Any concussion that keeps someone out 6 weeks is a serious matter. With concussions, you either had a concussion or you have a concussion problem. I think Ash has a problem and its just not worth taking the risk of putting him out there as a target if there is a rish. I think his career is over.

His equilibrium is still very much off from what I am hearing. I hope he gets well soon - for his future off the field. Sucks he has to go through this.

I was in a car wreck in college where I had a bad concussion and other issues and I can tell you first hand that those symptoms can linger for months. It was over 6 months before I got past the issues that I was dealing with. There was no medicine or doctor that could fix me. I'd go days with no symptoms and then all of a sudden I'd have headaches and issues galore and be down for the count. Definitely not something to mess around with. I couldn't imagine being an athlete in a contact sport like football where you're getting pounded on continuously.

If he is done, does that mean Swoopes is the guy next year? Or true freshman Heard? Man whoever we hire as coach is going to have a major decision on their hands with that position right off the bat.

Lobo, if Ash doesn't come back and maybe even if he does, the new coach will have Swoopes, hopefully Heard and maybe another guy he brings in(either Fr or Juco). That's potentially 3 Fr, not easy to win with quickly.

Exactly... And luckily he is attending a great university that provides him tons of possibilities outside of football.

I thought I read that if he turns his head all the way to one side, he blacks out. I would love to see him again in uniform one day, but I think he should give up football.

I wouldn't let one of my sons back on a field again period. I've had 2 serious ones and they SUCK!!! Repetitive conversations and like lookin at life thru a dirty window and then there are the headaches/dizziness.

Totally agree. If he were my son/grandson I would have serious doubts in him continuing in the game where he could be impacted for the rest of his life. We were all young and invisible at that age, but what a price to pay. I think he is through. Time to walk away

I can tell you if my daughter were a son, Id think extremely hard about letting him play after what we went through.

That's sad. With 2A Swoopes that leaves QB very thin
