Interesting Malik Jefferson Quotes After the Game

I've seen these quotes on other sites but don't know how to link them here so maybe someone can help me out. 

Now I don't know the context but Malik is quoted as saying that "we all wanted to see Heard play and that he was being held back".

Yet we had heard Charlie saying that Swoopes had won the locker room. 

Those two things seem to contradict each other and if you take what Malik said at face value it throws up a big red flag for me regarding this coaching staff.

I think we all saw that Watson really wanted Swoopes to be "the guy", even to the point about almost coming to tears during the pre-season press conference. I wanted to believe all that we heard about Swoopes during the summer, but when that press conference was concluded and I saw how emotionally involved Watson was with Swoopes, I was very concerned.

Unfortunately, I think Mailik and the team saw that as well. That would lead me to believe that Heard was not given a fair shake.

I also think that as the coaches will start to trust Heard, the more he plays. Especially if he can protect the ball.

Watson wanted Swoopes to be the next Teddy Bridgewater. He was left alone by Charlie to "develop" him and our offense. That's the root of the problem and that is on Charlie. I am thankful that Charlie has seen the light and is trying to right his wrong. Heard is our future and regardless of what happens this year, we have to roll with him. He gives us our best chance to win.

The media asked Heard about Malik's quote and Heard being in a 'prison cell'.  Heard apparently laughed and said, 'aka redshirt?'.  I'm guessing its something Heard has talked with at least some of the freshman about.

Well, here we are. Watson was indeed playing favorites. The guy he said wasn't ready to start just completed this thing they call a "forward pass" several times and we even scored on two of them.

I'm a huge Heard fan and have been since watching him win 2 state titles in HS but I will even say he needed to redshirt. All QBs should. VY, Colt, Manziel to name a few did and it helped them.

This could be another building block for Heard. I actually think Rice might have a better defense than Cal.

We will find out where we are offensively this weekend. This is a team we should be able to score on. Maybe it can build a little confidence for the offensive line.
