How hot is Dabo's seat?

Each year it's becoming more clear that Dabo is either unable, or unwilling to thrive in the era of NIL and the transfer portal.

Clemson is in a terrible position. Swinney is not only the most successful coach they have had, but he is the coach that brought them from obscurity to the top of the sport. Clemson's situation is like the situation Texas had with Mack brown, but much worse.

Here is an article that describes his buyout. I doubt Clemson can afford the buyout and even if they do move on, the coaches they could attract would be big gambles.

I have no idea what they will do, but it will be fun to watch.

I'd say his seat is a nuclear pile going into meltdown. He has outlasted his usefulness. Kind of like Mike Gundy last year.

One significant difference is that Gundy had a 15 million buy out, vs 57 million for for Swinney. Plus unfortunately for Clemson Swinnwy's contract has no offsets.

A large part of these decisions are driven by economics. If things continue on their current trajectory then lots of fans will stop showing up and the school won't have a choice.

Perhaps Clemson can get Swinney to renegotiate his contract giving him more time and and or NIL room in exchange for a reduced buy out (similar to what Gundy did at osu).

I don't think you could watch that game and still think Swinney can get it done.
