Texas was turned down by our top choices. I'm shocked.

The candidate that politic the hardest for the job, is going to end up with the job.

As mentioned earlier today, Strong offered the safety net and had no qualms about being a contingency plan unlike Art Briles.

Strong sold himself as one that could bring the all star coaching staff to Texas.

Expect Texas to go after Chad Morris as the OC and Ed O as the DC.

Wow I am disappointed for sure. Not sure if it was worth pushing Mack out now.

I don't expect us to land Morris at all. Why in the world are we going to shoot for the moon at OC when we wouldn't at HC besides Saban.

Chad Morris as OC makes me happy. I want Ed O on the staff but he's never been a DC in his career...though maybe with Strong around it's not as big an issue. Any idea who else we're looking for?

Ed Orgeron is about as far away from a star defensive coordinator as you can get. Recruiter, sure. DC, hell no. If you are hiring a coach at a place like Texas because he can put together a star-studded staff, you're incompetent. That staff is getting gutted the second you have a good season. Which is the overall point. You need a guy that can FIND the stars. Not PURSUE them.

So, we strike out on our top HC choices, yet we are to believe that we will get top coordinators?

Don't know that I like the Ed O. As a DC. Unproven there. Great recruiter and really good DL coach though.

Ok I am behind Patterson, Head Coach Strong and The University of Texas. Go Longhorns..... HOOK'EM

With the $ we saved between his salary and Saban's offer we better hire a staff for tha ages!!!

Can Ed O defend the spread?

100% isn't 100%. Bad call on that one, but I like the Strong hire and this site. Keep working at it.
