The Major is Movin' On

By Vasherized  @Vasherized on Jan 2 2014, 12:36p +

Arranged marriages usually don't end well and this break up is best for all parties.

According to a source close to his family, Texas Offensive Coordinator Major Applewhite has accepted a one-year severance package and won't be returning to Texas next season. This shouldn't come as a surprise and since Greg Robinson was always a short term hire we now have both coordinator positions vacated. It only makes the "Come to Texas for $8 mil / yr and hand pick your own staff" offer that much harder to refuse if we're swinging for the fences here. So who is your dream HC / OC / DC trio? Might as well start guessing because it's all going down in the next week. Whoever correctly predicts all three positions shall be named Texas Football Insider of 2014 in a ceremony to be broadcasted on Longhorn Network, hosted by Mack Brown, first reported by Inside Texas.

a nice severance package if I would get fired from my job of loafing.

HC: John Harbaugh

OC: Chad Morris

DC: Pat Narduzzi

Oh how that would turn the football world upside down.

HC -- Harbaugh

OC -- Morris

RB -- Porter

WR -- Wyatt

OL -- Wickline

DC -- Narduzzi

DL -- Orgeron

LB -- Kate Upton

DB -- Akina

hmmmm. so lane kiffen (lousy HC but decent OC and recruiter) recently spent time in tuscaloosa with saban. Ed O, kiffen's former wingman and a guy with SEC ties) is in central texas doing 'something'. major is out.

gimme 20-bucks on saban/kiffen/orgeron trifecta on the 40 acres.

FYI...Suchomel posted this story is not true and we all know Such and Major are besties via e-mail.

damn is it me or does OB run as fast as they can to shoot down anything said from another site..

Is there any reason that Texas would offer Major a severance package before the HC has been determined? I would think that they would wait and let the HC determine who is staying and who is going... It would also make sense if the guy they were hiring had previously worked with Major...

It may not end up being true, but no way Major would talk about it to anyone before its finalized...even Suchomel.

Sounds like a winner!

seems they are set to deny anything they dont have info on yet or report first themselves. its becoming a huge pattern

I bet they will come out in a day or two and have this story. BC's source on this report apparently is close to the Applewhite family. Strange it would be made up but guess we will see when OB decides its true

I honestly believe the search is over, they are just waiting for the appropriate time to make the announcement.

I didn't take a side just sharing what was said for those without OB accounts.

IMO it is a given Applewhite is gone no matter what so the report will eventually be true even if it is not 100% accurate today.

Agreed. Applewhite's out either way. His time as Co-OC wasn't a strong enough performance to stand against the current changes. Seems inevitable. Wish him all the best though.

I think this is more proof that it may be Saban. He got rid of Applewhite once before, so there is no way he would keep Major around. Add the info about Orgeron and it looks more and more like Saban.

I personally see Upton as more of a TE coach.
