A good, cost-effective walking golf course is Luna Vista in Irving. I played there last week. $31 including a rented pull cart.

Call ahead, but I imagine you can get on pretty easily by just showing up.

I think the best value in DFW is Sherrill Park in Richardson. Consistently ranked among the top public courses in Texas. Play the Par 72 vs. the Par 70.

The Dallas public courses are great too - Stevens Park was recently redone and is in great shape. Always like Tenison Highlands as well.

If you can get a good price, try Frisco Lakes. The Tee Box radio show in DFW on the Ticket always talked about how this course has the greatest three finishing holes in the Metroplex. Couldn't agree more. Unfortunately, the new owner is flipping the front and back 9, so they may be 7-8-9 at this point.
